My only regret about our visit to Italy was we rushed the time in the South a bit. If I could go back I would have spent several more days in the south, particularly Sicily. There is so much about the place that I liked. The rugged mountains that run down to the sea are beautiful. The interesting stories that come up when you dig into the history. It may look a little “lived in”, but it is incredibly charming.
To make up for rushing Sicily in 2020 we revisited it in 2023 for a more extended stay. Our fond memories of our short visit in 2020 were confirmed on this trip. Italy is a wonderful country and there is not a part of it we have not enjoyed, but Sicily is my favorite part of Italy. Italian food is great, but Sicilian food takes it to another level in my opinion. There are some foods that we saw but didn’t get to try that I think would make another trip to Sicily worthwhile.
