October 11, 2026 Cuenca Mountains National Park SP

Shifted east almost 400 kilometers to the Mediterranean side of Spain. Didn’t quite get there as there are a couple of towns we want to see in the mountains between the central plains of Spain and the coast. The drive went smoothly even when we did our third crossing of Madrid this trip. Because it was Sunday we were the slowest vehicle on the road which lets me enjoy cruise control and drink my coffee while all of the cars whizzed around me.

The trees in the mountains are starting to show their fall colors here in the mountains.

The campground we are staying at was listed as year round, but when we pulled up the guy said you have to leave by noon because we are closing for the season tomorrow. Like a lot of campgrounds in France and Spain a lot of the plots are now rented by locals year round. After we were parked we got to enjoy watching people preparing to put their campsite to bed for the winter, and creatively packing all the things they had accumulated during the summer into their cars.
